Description: Traditionally, Cajeput was used for its antiseptic, local analgesic, and carminative properties by Australian aborigines. The local aborigines on Groote Eylandt used it to treat pains and aches. The leaves were either crushed and rubbed on the body, or the liquid derived from its young leaves used for bathing the affected area. Crushed leaves were also sniffed to cure headaches.

Cajeput oil has many compounds that contribute to its infection-fighting power. The main one is alpha-terpineol, a naturally-occurring terpene compound found in some flowers and herbs.

For cuts and wounds, rub a couple of drops of Cajeput essential oil mixed with a few coconut oil drops to ward off infection. Repeat this until the wound heals.

Relieves pain

The analgesic properties in Cajeput essential oil can soothe the sensation of pain. Consequently, the oil is widely used in the treatment of joint pain and muscle cramps. If you have mild joint and muscle pains, mix a few drops of the oil with a carrier oil and then massage it into the affected areas for quick relief. For chronic pain, mix the oil with a carrier oil or lotion and rub it into the area daily.

Maintains a healthy digestive system

Cajeput oil can help with the expulsion of gas from the digestive tract to prevent bloating. Additionally, the antispasmodic property of the oil helps relax the tight muscles that cause painful stomach cramps. For bloating or stomach cramps, mix a carrier oil with the Cajeput essential oil then rub it on your abdomen in a clockwise motion.

Smoothens and brightens skin

Cajeput essential oil is a popular ingredient in the beauty industry, especially in skin care products like toners and creams. The oil compounds naturally remove impurities from the skin, treat acne, and regulate sebum production. If you frequently use this oil, your skin will feel healthier and smoother. Moreover, the Cajeput essential oil diminishes the appearance of blemishes and scars. If you want to get your glow on, the Cajeput oil is an ideal oil for you. To incorporate it into your skincare routine, replace your toner with a mixture of equal parts carrier oil and Cajeput essential oil. Alternatively, you can add two drops of the oil to your lotion or face cream.

Eliminates insects

Studies show that Cajeput essential oil possesses strong insecticidal properties that can eliminate unwelcome insects like mosquitoes and flies. This oil is heaven-sent, especially to people living in tropical countries. If you use a mosquito net, you can soak it in Cajeput oil to ward off mosquitoes. A more effective way is to make mosquito spray by mixing the essential oil with other oils in a spray bottle or a diffuser.
