Description: Cedarwood Juniperus Virginiana is native to the American state of Virginia but is grown widely all over the United States and Canada. The USA is the sole source of cedarwood Juniperus Virginiana for essential oil. Virginian Cedarwood oil is used to calm nervous tension and states of anxiety. It works very well in deterring moths and other insects; powerful antiseptic and fungicidal properties. Many Native American tribes used this particular type of cedarwood medicinally, treating ailments that include urinary tract infections, to encourage menstruation, and to ease respiratory tract complaints such as cold, fever, pneumonia, coughs and asthma. Cedarwood Juniperus Virginiana is also an excellent decongestant, helping to calm a cough and unblock sinuses. It is also a very good insect repellant and is ideal for treating acne and other oily skin conditions. It is commonly used in the cosmetics industry for shampoos, conditioners, soaps, aftershaves, men’s deodorants and fragrances. Additional uses include anti-bacterial household cleaners, air fresheners, and floor polishes, but it is also used in the culinary industry to flavor or enhance food and drinks.

Common Uses: Cedarwood Essential Oil (Virginiana) has several common uses, including aromatherapy applications for promoting relaxation and reducing stress, as well as helping to improve focus and mental clarity. Additionally, it is used in skincare products for its astringent and antiseptic properties, making it beneficial for oily and acne-prone skin, and it is also utilized in natural insect repellents and as a base note in perfumes and colognes due to its warm and woody aroma.

Blends well with: Rosewood, Orange, Cypress, Lemon, Basil, Tea Tree, Bergamot, Geranium, Rose, Jasmine, Ylang Ylang, Eucalyptus, Peppermint, Pathcouli and Sweet Marjoram.

Contraindications: Avoid Cedarwood Juniperus Virginiana if you are pregnant or think you might be pregnant. There are some claims that state that this essential oil may cause abortion or induce labor, though there is no specific evidence in support of this. Not recommended for internal use. Keep away from pets and children, and avoid contact with the eyes, ears, and mucous membranes as well as sensitive areas of the skin.
