Description:Â Rocket seed oil, also globally recognized as rocket oil, arugula seed oil, or traditionally as taramira oil, is a light green to golden-colored oil with a slightly nutty, pungent aroma. It is extracted from the seeds of the rocket plant (Eruca sativa). Rocket seed oil is a potent, rich source of essential fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals designed for deep therapeutic action.
Rocket seed is excellent for cosmetic use because of its unique profile of essential fatty acids and antioxidants (isothiocyanates). This rocket oil benefits the scalp by helping to strengthen the roots and nourishes hair all the way through to the ends. It stimulates the hair follicles, supports rocket oil for hair growth cycles, and helps reduce dandruff when used regularly. Rocket seed oil can help to revitalize even the most over-dried and severely damaged hair. Rocket oil has long been used to support hair health, scalp vitality, and skin comfort in traditional hair-care practices across Egypt and South Asia.
Rocket seed oil still has beneficial properties including:
- Rich in essential fatty acids, including erucic acid and glucosinolates, which has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties.
- Good source of vitamins A, C, E, and K, which are important for skin health, immune function, and overall health.
- Contains minerals such as calcium, iron, magnesium, and potassium, which are essential for many bodily functions.
- Moisturizes and nourishes the skin, though often used in blends like rocket spray oil formulations.
- Reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines (similar to punica granatum seed oil).
- Promotes hair growth and reduces hair loss, making arugula oil a popular choice for scalp treatments and lice prevention.
- Boosts the immune system.
- Promotes heart health.
- Reduces inflammation in joints (often compared to black seed oil for massage).
Rocket Seed oil can be used for the purposes including:
- Skin care: Soothing eczema and fungal issues
- Hair care: Arugula oil for hair loss and dandruff
- Culinary: Zesty salad dressing base
- Dietary supplement: General Wellness
In addition to these common uses, rocket seed oil is also used for a variety of other purposes, such as reducing inflammation and pain. The presence of beta-carotene further supports skin renewal and antioxidant protection.
Rocket seed oil is a safe and effective oil that can be used in a variety of ways to improve health and well-being.

Contradictions: Rocket Seed Oil (Eruca Sativa, Egypt) is rich in nutrients but can cause skin irritation for sensitive individuals due to its high sulfur content (glucosinolates) and is traditionally valued as a therapeutic oil, not a neutral cosmetic base.. While it’s great for moisturizing, it may feel too heavy or greasy for oily or acne-prone skin. Its strong, pungent scent can be off-putting to some users. Additionally, its relatively low stability means it can oxidize quickly if not stored properly, reducing its efficacy.

This is a new oil for me to experiment with; I made some beard balm with this as one of the ingredients. I’m waiting for feedback for this new recipe. I’m planning on making other things for my husband to try out. I liked the benefits I’ve read about; we will see if they ring true.
Great quality oil.
